Swedish Cult Black Metal Band THE BLACK Releases First New Music In 13 Years
January 8, 2007THE BLACK, the cult Swedish black metal act to which DISSECTION leader Jon Nödveidt contributed to (under the alias Rietas) in 1992 and 1993, is recording a new album, entitled "Alongside Death", at Erebus Odora Studios in Sweden with producer Peter Björgö (ARCANA, SOPHIA). The CD, which is expected later in the year, will feature mainman Make Pesonen (a.k.a. The Black; ETERNAL DARKNESS, KARJALAN SISSIT),alongside D.F. Bragman and Andreas Jonsson (VINTERLAND). A brand new THE BLACK track, entitled "Death's Crown", can currently be streamed on the band's official MySpace page.
THE BLACK's one and only album "The Priest of Satan" was recorded and mixed at Underground Studios in April/May 1993 and released the following year through Necropolis Records, according to Tartarean Desire. The cover art was done by Nödtveidt and the band themselves. After the release of the album the band was put to rest but all old demo songs were released by Necropolis on a CD called "Black Blood" in 1996.
